so...... if jehovah is omnipotent, then there is nothing he can't do and nothing he doesn't know.. and, according to jws (as well as most other religions), god is love.
therefore he had to have known, even before creating all of creation, what would happen.
"The point is that if there is no God, then what is the point of our existence? To enjoy our time here on earth for the brief while we are here? Seems rather pointless doesn't it? "
this assumes that theres a relationship between god and our existence. but what if there is not? and whats wrong with enjoying our time on earth? wether you believe on a god or not, it is still sensible.
when i left the witnesses in 1992 after ten years in the orgainzation, i got as far away from the teachings and mindest as i could.
however some, like my former brother-in-law, also left, but are intent on finding ways to reform the society from within since he believes in the society as being of god, but that it has become misguided and is slowly drifting to "christendom" status.
one of the things he cites as evidence is the wtbts become aligned with the united nations.

im from the philippines and i was born as witness. my father was a former DO and my mother is still a very devout JW. I started questioning JW beliefs since i was around 15. right now i have very serious doubts about our fundamental beliefs and notions and i felt that JWs beliefs are quite far from the percieved reality of the collective knowledge of the world. and im really considering agnostic ideas. Its interesting to read your observations.
However right now i still attend meetings regularly due to my wifes beliefs and family ties but it always pains me about seing this people accepting notions without testing and verifying certain claims and numbing thier reason and common sense.

yep, and every animal requires a specific habitat for it to live!! temperture, humidity, light, unique food (some are predators).
but the biggest hurdle of them all, bigger problem in building the ark, is that noah needs to traverse all around the world to save such unique species locateded only on their habitat, and the massive frieght required to haul them all to the mediterranian.

i argued that such policy is not practical here in the philippines since most jobs now require some sort of college education unlike in other countries where there are demands on skills regardless on educational attainment.
i remember sometime on 2000, when our philippine bethel branch was recruiting more personel, one of their preferred requirements was having a college degree. this was reason why several elders and brothers were hesitant to apply because most of them havent finished college.
This is so much in contradiction with the anti college spirit in this years convention. There seems to be a double standard here.

Seems you have been a victim of the WTSs' propaganda! The idea that JWs are less evil than others and thus better are the societies claims and very easily disproven. almost all religion feel the same way on varying degrees.

Our convention will be next week.

i was wondering over this question when we came across a point that christians should not get involved with politics.
the account of john 6:14, 15 indicates that jesus refused the change to be made king of the jews.
therefore witnesses concluded that jesus don't want to get involved with political power or politics and so his followers should not get involve in politics.. but this conclucion seems very contradicting & quite suspecious, since jesus knows he will become king (a political figure) of not only to the jews but to the whole world in the future.
